Process Principles

Transparency

Are elements of your process only known by a few?  Has "tribal knowledge" kept things moving but left you in a precarious situation?  Process works best when everyone has access and visibility to the key information.

Accountability

Who has the ball and who's responsible for moving it forward?  Clarity around roles and responsibilities is key to keeping momentum and providing clarity.  An aligned RACI can help dramatically.

Collaboration can't be mandated.  While process design can improve the likelihood that cooperation between functions will happen, culture plays a huge role in collaborative success.  Taking this into consideration and developing around it is key.

Prioritization

When process is working well it's not necessarily all "green lights".  The best indicator of strong process is when it enables tough decisions to be made.  Activities stopped.  Projects rejected.  Non-value added work halted.  Priorities set.
